Bud Buds

logo design, branding, clickable prototype

Budbuds is a tool for learning about cannabis products. In the rapidly changing market of legal cannabis, both new and experienced users face challenges finding products that meet their needs. Budbuds solves this problem by interpreting available product data, allowing users to search products based on attributes that matter to them. Budbuds approached me and my team for help with a logo and a clickable prototype to pitch their business to investors.

Process

We began by creating a moodboard that visually expresses the client’s brand characteristics of authentic, well-informed, creative, and cool. From there, we created a logo that supports their brand identity and mission by combining organic (authentic, creative) and geometric (well-informed, cool) shapes. The clean, friendly sans-serif typeface of the wordmark establishes the brand as an authority while moving it away from the negative connotations sometimes associated with cannabis products.

We also created a clickable prototype, walking investors through one task flow, helping them to understand how the product would function. While the project goals did not include user experience design, we took user goals into consideration when designing the size, placement, and interactions. Additionally, we designed the prototype and assets in a way that would allow our client to easily make edits, so he is able to adjust the content as needed for presentations.
